Application:

‌Industrial catalysis: biodiesel production‌

‌Core function‌: catalyze the transesterification reaction of vegetable oil/animal fat and methanol to efficiently produce fatty acid methyl esters (biodiesel).

‌Advantages‌: lower saponification risk than sodium hydroxide (reduce by-products), improve product purity.

‌Organic synthesis: strong base driven reaction‌

‌Condensation reaction‌: Claisen condensation (synthesis of β-dicarbonyl compounds), Diekmann cyclization.

‌α-Alkylation‌: activate malonic acid esters, acetoacetic acid esters, etc., and construct C-C bonds with halogenated hydrocarbons.

‌Elimination reaction‌: promote the dehydrohalogenation of halogenated hydrocarbons to produce olefins (such as acrylonitrile synthesis).
