Furfural is the raw material of furfuryl alcohol, which is obtained by cracking and dehydrating polypentose contained in agricultural and sideline products. Furfural is hydrogenated to furfural alcohol under the condition of catalyst, and is the main raw material for furfuran resin production. Furfuryl alcohol is an important organic chemical raw material. The main users produce furfural resin, furfuran resin, furfuryl alcohol – urea formaldehyde resin, phenolic resin, etc. It is also used to prepare fruit acid, plasticizer, solvent and rocket fuel. In addition, it is also widely used in industrial sectors such as fuels, synthetic fibers, rubber, pesticides and casting. Description: Colorless liquid easily flowing, turning brown or deep red when exposed to sunlight and air. It has a bitter taste.

 

Solubility: can be miscible with water, but unstable in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene and chloroform, insoluble in petroleum hydrocarbons.

 

Emergency methods:

 

Leakage treatment
Evacuate the personnel from the contaminated area to the safety zone, prohibit irrelevant personnel from entering the contaminated area, and cut off the fire source. Emergency responders are advised to wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical protective clothing. Do not contact the leakage directly, in order to ensure the safety of the leak. Spray water to reduce evaporation. Mixed with sand or other non-combustible adsorbent for absorption. It is then collected and transported to a waste disposal site for disposal. It can also be rinsed with large amounts of water and diluted into the waste water system. Such as a large amount of leakage, collection and recycling or harmless disposal after waste.

Protective measures

 

Respiratory protection: Wear a gas mask when possible contact with its vapor. Wear self-contained breathing during emergency rescue or escape.

 

Eye protection: Wear safety glasses.

 

Protective clothing: Wear appropriate protective clothing.

 

Others: Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited on site. After working, wash thoroughly. Store poison-contaminated clothes separately and wash them before using them. Pay attention to personal hygiene.

First aid measure
Skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and immediately rinse thoroughly with running water.

Eye contact: Immediately lift eyelid and rinse thoroughly with plenty of running water.

Inhalation: Quickly remove from the scene to fresh air. Keep your airway clear. Give oxygen when breathing is difficult. When respiration stops, give artificial respiration immediately. Seek medical attention.

Ingestion: When the patient is awake, drink plenty of warm water to induce vomiting and seek medical attention.

Fire extinguishing method: mist water, foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand.

Packing and storage: Packing in iron drums, 230kg, 250kg per barrel. Store in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Fireworks are strictly prohibited. Do not store and transport with strong acids, strong oxidizing chemicals and foodstuffs.
