Physical properties: Light yellow flammable liquid with bitter almond flavor, it will turn brown or deep red when exposed to sunlight or air. It is miscible with water, insoluble in petroleum hydrocarbons. It is easy to polymerize and react violently in case of acid, forming resin that is not melted.
As one of the raw materials for organic synthesis, it can be used to produce levulinic acid, furan resin with various properties, furfuryl alcohol-urea resin and phenolic resin.
