Features:
Solubility: Easily soluble in water, hydrophilic solvents and fat-based solvents. Limited solubility in hydrophobic solvents such as hydrocarbons and halogenated hydrocarbons.
Reactivity: It has conjugated double bonds and active functional groups in its molecular structure, and is easily soluble in water and alcohol. It is resistant to solvents such as chloroform and carbon tetrachloride, but condensation reactions easily occur in neutral or alkaline media. It is unstable in humid air or water and easy to polymerize. It can quickly form insoluble resin when heated in the presence of acid in aqueous solution.
Polymerization properties: Its molecular structure contains ethylene and hydroxymethyl, has polymerization and condensation capabilities, and is very effective for cross-linking linear polymers. When copolymerized with acrylate monomers, the introduction of hydroxymethyl groups allows easy cross-linking with just heat.
